MAJUMDAR RESIDENCE
Ruma and Goutham Majumdar’s home is a treasure trove of antiques, gathered from their extensive travels around the world.
The project’s goal was to unify these exquisite collectibles while creating a complementary backdrop that enhances their beauty.
We achieved this by incorporating natural stones—slate, Jaisalmer sandstone, Kota, and granite—to weave together the diverse elements. The warm tones of Jaisalmer sandstone beautifully highlight the wicker furniture, while the tumbled Kota tiles accentuate the walls, harmonizing with the yellow stone and providing a striking setting for Ruma’s vibrant deep-red flowers. The Kota stone, with its dark and textured “stormy” finish, serves as an ideal base for the clients’ handmade pots and ceramic pieces.
At the heart of the design was a commitment to minimal interventions—recognizing that sometimes, the subtlest changes are all that’s needed to elevate the most stunning features.
