CAFE MAX

Redesigning this iconic Bangalore coffee shop after its relocation from Max Mueller Bhavan to Indiranagar 6th Main presented several hidden challenges. The solution centered on the existing outdoor tree canopy as the primary focal point, integrating diverse functions—main bar, family seating, lounge, and bakery—into one cohesive, inviting space.

At the heart of the café is a long, tiered bar that transitions from standard bar height to a lower coffee station, allowing guests to watch their beverages being expertly prepared. Suspended above the bar is a sleek glass menu board featuring clean, sticker-style typography that reinforces the café’s relaxed, casual character.

A rich backdrop of brick-tile cladding, warm wooden benches, decorative wrought-iron grillwork, and soft linen upholstery creates an outdoor European vibe. Thoughtful lighting—combining earthy bamboo designer pendants with exposed filament bulbs—adds a layer of informal charm within the orderly grid of seating. The wine rack, bakery display, and bar counter together form a stylish, modern-chic backdrop.

A versatile mix of high bar tables, standard table seating, outdoor patio furniture, and comfortable lounge seating ensures the space comfortably accommodates a wide range of patrons, from quick coffee runs to leisurely family gatherings.
